Back to School: School Supplies - What to Consider

Author: Tamra Cantar

It is an annual tradition for students and their parents to head to the school supply stores each September just before school starts up for the fall semester. About this time, stores and papers publish slews of coupons that are intended to help alleviate the costly burden of school supplies.

Each student and grade has a particular list of school supplies that the student must have in order to be prepare for the year ahead. Depending on the grade level of the student, the school supply list could include such items as markers and crayons to more expensive items, such as calculators and computers. Therefore, before you head out to shop for schools supplies, check with your teacher to make sure that you purchase all of the necessary supplies that are required for your school.

Here is a brief run-down of basic school supplies that are needed for just about any student. You will notice that many of these items are standard. Chances are very high that your teacher or school system will have a school supply list that is more comprehensive, so you may want to speak with your teacher in advance to ensure that you purchase appropriate items.

Paper - You will likely need two types of paper: printer paper and lined paper.

Binder - You will need a binder into which you can organize your classes. Some people prefer to have one binder per subject while others enjoy putting each subject in one binder.

Writing utensils - Pens and Pencils are essential to ensuring that you take notes while you are in class.

Calculator - No matter what math class you are in, you will need to have a calculator to help get through the lessons.

Notebooks - You will need to take notes in something - why not a notebook?

Planner - A planner is a great way to ensure that you keep track of your daily routine and do not miss a deadline.

Now get out there and look for school supply sales. Chances are good that if you are diligent, you will be able to find all of the things you are looking for without a problem. Make sure that you do check with your school first to find out if they have a particular school supply list that you need to work from.
